Part classical ballet company, part contemporary performing arts organization, Carolina Ballet Theatre engages our entire community through the power of dance.
Founded in 1972, Carolina Ballet Theatre has been a significant contributor to Greenville's vibrant arts and culture scene for more than thirty-five years. Those contributions became even more notable in recent years with the addition of Artistic Director Hernan Justo and his wife, nationally acclaimed dancer Anita Pacylowski-Justo.
Carolina Ballet Theatre Outreach Programs include two areas of outreach – one into the general community and the other into education. These Outreach efforts are primarily targeted toward underprivileged children and families.
Our dancers are trained extensively in the philosophy and methods of arts integration and have rich experience in Greenville County Schools’ classrooms through SmartARTS, a partnership between Greenville County Schools and the Metropolitan Arts Council.
Over the past six years, through SmartARTS alone, CBT Dancers have collaborated with teachers to plan and implement over 50 standards-based, arts integrated teaching units, impacting over 2000 students through direct classroom outreach.
THE MISSION OF CAROLINA BALLET THEATRE is to promote and expand the art of dance to all segments of the Greenville community. CBT hopes to achieve this goal by providing the highest caliber training and performance opportunities for dancers in the Upstate. CBT strives to offer quality performances that will educate and entertain a wide variety of audiences in the art of ballet.
